Stop me before I volunteer again!

Here is a story about an unwanted guest
Who put one host through a difficult test
She was invited to our house just for two days
That later proved to be an inconvenient phase

To start with, she was a complete stranger to me
I was naïve to be giving her some advice for free
I usually do not invite people to stay with me
Made an exception thinking how bad could it be

I was excited; tried to make her stay pleasant
Hoping she would leave, even got her a present
With excuses the duration of the stay increased
My interest in making a good meal decreased

She had a messed up life and a complicated health
I suggested her to return and quit going after wealth
She refused to leave and started throwing tantrums
I had to deal with a stranger’s life and her problems

Adding dollars to my budget overstaying her welcome
Grating on my nerves a huge monster she has become
She was there everywhere; in my mind in my house
Finally, to get rid of her I strategized with my spouse

Giving a career advice we put her on the next flight
I came home relieved; ate a bowl of mango delight
In the one week of her stay I became totally insane
Told my spouse to stop me before I volunteer again!

Emotionally Challenged

I have big dreams and ambitions
I generate ideas faster than
I can keep up with them
With my contemplative rhythm

Lots of interests and passions
Confused as to what to do first
I am trying to accomplish a lot
In spite of all my limitations

I am not living up to my potential
Slowing down due to shifting priorities
I feel inadequate beside my friends
Trying to find solitude from time to time

Constantly in search of something
To make me happy and contended
Time to make powerful choices
Manage my life with my heart

The plan is to prioritize my goals
Simply taking one step after another
Getting ahead at my own pace
Count on persistence to do the magic

I am emotionally challenged
Strong outside with a soft inside
Couldn’t change how ever I tried
Is there someone similar to confide?

Accept Me

I am different and so are you
Accept me without further ado
I thought it was easy to accept you
But I do not get your point of view

You started deciding things for me
Setting rules without letting me free
Trust me for once and cut me loose
The freedom you give; I'll not misuse

Do not think I am vulnerable and weak
I am strong in my own way and unique
I agree it is not easy and I make you sad
Try talking to me without getting mad

I am who I am; I can never become you
Can’t we come to terms and start anew
I crave for your acceptance all the way through
Do understand, I am different and so are you!

Dedicated to all those who are being judged for who they are!

No rules, no fear - An acrostic poem

Not to plan

Once in a while

Risk my emotions

Unravel the mystery

Listen to my heart

Enjoy being me

Sound more confident

Never ever sulk

Overcome anxiety

Fear no more

Enlighten my soul

Ask for help

Reinvent myself

Mistakes happen

Mistakes happen

In every relationship

Sorry for what I did

Think you can forgive me?

Accept me, I was naive

Knowing my stupidity

Excuse me if you can

Spell out what’s in your mind

Hiding how you really feel

Acting weird around me

Puzzles me deep inside

Pretend this never happened

Ease into our friendship

Neglecting the difficult past

Practicing acrostics!

If you haven't noticed yet - The first letter of each line spells out the title of the poem

Somebody somewhere will be there for you – Always!

To make you laugh, to make you cry
To tell you stories, that you can’t deny
To listen to all that you had to say
Sometimes just to make you sway!

There comes someone in your life
When talking to others becomes a strife
It is just miraculous how you get close
You talk as if there is nothing to disclose

There can be more than one such friend
That can make the relationship to transcend
This is that best friend you can get hold of
Mind you; it need not always be your love

You might have had someone to speak to
When you were alone, had nobody to turn to
Who just happened to help you sail through
Somebody somewhere is always there for you!

A business man in love

Here is a love story of an ambitious businessman
With dreams and hopes who had just but two goals
He said I would consider my life’s work to be done
Once I became an artist and found a loved one

An Engineer by profession, an artist by passion
He set upon the journey to realize his dreams
Artist thing came easy the other one was hard
In the process of finding love he became a bard

Enterprising by nature bragging was his culture
A pioneer in his field though he hated what he did
Started searching for a girl with all his heart
For someone who is beautiful, charming and smart

Met many girls with whom he easily got bored
Never found one whom he really adored
He started to wonder if it is only a myth
To meet a woman who he could get along with

Then came a girl into his life as a big surprise
Beautiful he thought looking at her sparkling eyes
Unique and brilliant with beauty and brains
Happy to meet her he celebrated with champagne

They spoke for hours through days and nights
Enjoying each others company with out any fights
She sang songs from movies by Yash Chopra
He sang the song from The Phantom of the Opera

He took her on a date flying to another state
Looking at her he thought he found his soul mate
He got her roses and a necklace with a black pearl
Excited at his gifts she smiled like a little girl

Lunch in a posh restaurant followed by a coffee shop
Dinner at a pizza place everywhere they talked non stop
She felt happy that he came to visit her from far
And drove her around in a red sports car

As he was leaving she was curious to know
If he felt this trip was worth the dough
After all a businessman he sounded quite funny
When he said ‘I got value for my money’!
